Alpharetta

Once the seat of Milton County, Alpharetta is now a city of over 35,000 residents located within Fulton County, Georgia. It began as a trading post for settlers and Cherokee Indians, but was not legally chartered until 1858, by which time it had grown to a fairly large town with a downtown area and several substantial farms.

In the 1930s, a merger with Fulton County saved Milton County from bankruptcy, and Alpharetta became essentially a secondary town in close proximity to Atlanta. It is now considered a suburb, and is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. A renovated historic district, including downtown shopping and restaurants, is a feature that attracts residents and visitors to the heart of the city.

Residents enjoy a large number of amenities, including top-rated schools and modern shopping malls and libraries. Housing prices continue to climb as demand increases.
